Helix Piercing Aftercare Guide
- Given that it heals in about 8 to 12 months, take good care.
- Throughout the healing process, clean your newly placed helix piercing two to three times a day using a saline piercing aftercare solution.
- Try not to sleep on your piercing as it heals.
- Stay away from standing water (like swimming pools, lakes, and baths).
- Don’t touch the piercing.
- Keep the jewelry still. Do not twist the jewelry within the piercing.
- Use Fucidin or Fucicort cream every night before sleeping to boost the healing process.
- Have a piercer confirm that the piercing has fully healed before stopping aftercare practices.
Tips & Tricks
- Utilize a travel pillow to aid in your sleeping routine.
- Every day, wash your piercings in clean water and mild soap in the shower. Don't forget to use a dryer to dry them after.
- Applying fucicort lotion or fucidin helps accelerate the healing process.
- Always begin with a light piece of jewelry.
- Once the swelling has subsided, downsize your jewelry.
- Keep your head and hair tidy because dandruff can quickly contaminate the piercings.
What to Avoid
- Put an end to touching your piercing. The greatest way to spread bacteria is through our hands.
- For up to a month, stay away from lakes, pools, and the sea because contaminated water can quickly infect piercings.
- While your piercing is healing, avoid rotating it. They won't be stuck, I promise you.
- Avoid covering your piercing with fragrances, makeup, or any other skin or hair products.
- Do not sleep with wet hair.
- Do not clean with alcohol or cotton buds.
- Use of over-ear headphones or any other device that applies pressure to your piercing is not advised.
- Throughout the healing process, avoid taking off or changing your jewelry.
- Avoid tea tree oil and any other products that your friends or social media have recommended.
